a5c7b9f00b Back in 1997, with the closest thing to adventure being an open spot at Loomis Fargo armoured car business, David Ghantt, a shy, quiet man in his forties, entered the world of thrill and excitement, following his dream. If only it were that simple. Instead, from now on, Ghantt's new reality includes a boring repetitiveness of collecting and delivering money, up until that day that Kelly Campbell, a new and exciting colleague, entered the company's door rocking David's world for good. Inevitably, head over heels for her, David is prepared to do anything for her attention, and before long, he would even accept a key role in an inside job proposed by Kelly and her opportunistic accomplice Steve, the town's petty thief. As one of the selected few who hold the key to the vault, David will be successful in his task and with the intention to please his new sweetheart, he will eagerly cram $17 million in the back of the company's armoured van, in the biggest cash heist in history. However, the security cameras are silently recording.. David Ghantt discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is an uncomplicated man stuck in a monotonous life. Day in and day out he drives an armored vehicle, transporting millions of other people's money with no escape in sight. The only glimmer of excitement is his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell who soon lures him into the scheme of a lifetime. Along with a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers and an absurdly faulted heist plan, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million in cash…only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall. With the bandits blowing the millions on lavish and ridiculous luxuries, they leave behind a glaring trail of evidence. Now on the lam and in over his head, David must dodge the authorities, evade a hilarious hit man, Mike McKinney, and try to turn the tables on the ones he trusted most. How? Why? What in the world? I'm 20 mins into this garbage and I can't take it anymore. It is that bad. It is horrible.

Everything about it is bad: the casting, the acting, the script, the makeup, the wardrobe - everything. Owen Wilson agreed to do this? How? Why? The characters aren't believable, the "comedy" is superbly cheesy slapstick with a generous serving of crass and gross to boot.

This is yet another movie to add to the list of "how in the world did this get made?" Why is Hollywood producing this garbage? Is The Producers for real, and the producers of this and other recent movies making money off flops? Because there is no other explanation. In large part, the stellar cast proved very effective vs. a pedestrian script and direction.

I was especially surprised at the average direction being that he has done some very good and colorful work in the past. Nacho Libre and especially Gentlemen Broncos. He probably had very little control, in the end.

A workable, by-the-numbers, script with a clear story and characters. But you've seen it before.

But ZACH! AH! The funniest man alive! His performance should not have worked. It was overacting of an agitating character. Same with the rest of the cast.

But it did! I don't know why. I don't know how. But it was very very funny. Catch it! Masterminds is a bit of an interesting case study,it is basically a Coen brothers film but put through a mechanism that removes all the wit, visual style or excitement. In its place are tortuously dull set-pieces, rambling dialogue and banal stagings.
